Starting November 16, 2026, a major roadworks project will reshape traffic on the west side of Paris. Here’s what you need to know before your next trip to Versailles.

What’s changing

The North tube of the Saint-Cloud tunnel, on the A13 motorway, will close in the Paris → province direction — exactly the direction of your trip to Versailles. The closure, decided by DiRIF (the Île-de-France roads authority), is needed to reinforce the tunnel’s structure, built nearly a century ago, ahead of the Grand Paris Express Line 15 tunnel boring works.

The closure will run from November 16, 2026 to the end of August 2027, roughly nine months.

Good news: your return trip is unaffected

The South tube, serving the province → Paris direction, stays open throughout the works. In practice, your outbound trip to Versailles may follow a detour route, while your return to Paris runs normally.

Planned detour routes

Two main alternative routes will bypass the closed tunnel:

• Via RD910 then RN118
• Via RN13 then A14

These alternatives may add to travel time, particularly during peak hours.
